VOCATIONAL HIGHER SECONDARY EXAMINATION- MARCH 2010

PHYSICS PRACTICAL – SECOND YEAR

Time: 3 Hrs Max. Marks: 40


  • Attempt the questions marked √ from section A and section B.

· Write down the marked question in the answer book.

· Write down the necessary formula and explain the symbols used. Draw the circuit diagram for electrical experiments.

· Give the result in SI units.


SECTION – A

1. Find the weight of the given body using parallelogram law of vectors by diagonal method / using formula.

2. Find the acceleration due to gravity using simple pendulum by using formula / from l – T2 graph.

3. Find the length of the seconds pendulum from l – T2 graph using simple pendulum.

4. Find the period corresponding to a length 105 cm from l – T2 graph using simple pendulum.

5. Find the spring constant of the helical spring by oscillation / load extension method.

6. Determine the surface tension of water by capillary rise method.

7. Verify the relation between frequency and length of a given wire under constant tension using sonometer.

8. Verify the relation between length of a given wire and the tension under constant frequency using sonometer.

9. Find the velocity of sound in air at room temperature using resonance column apparatus.

10. Verify Boyle’s law using Quill tube / Jolly’s bulb apparatus.

11. Find the weight of the given roller using inclined plane.

12. Determine the coefficient of viscosity of a given viscous fluid by measuring the terminal velocity of a given spherical body.

13. Study the relationship between the temperature of the hot body and time by plotting a cooling curve.

14. Using spherometer measure the thickness of a given sheet / radius of curvature of given spherical surface.

15. Measure the dimensions of sphere / cylinder / rectangular block / calorimeter using vernier calipers and find the volume.

16. Measure the dimensions of the given wire / glass plate / lead shot using screw gauge and find the volume.

17. Determine the mass of the given body using a metre scale / physical balance.

SECTION – B

18. Determine the angle of minimum deviation for a given prism using pin method.

19. Determine the angle of refractive index of the material of the prism using the pin method. (Angle of prism given)

20. Draw the forward characteristic curve of a p-n junction diode.

21. Verify the reverse current variation with voltage for a zener diode.

22. Verify the truth table of AND / NOT / OR gates.

23. Convert the given galvanometer of known resistance of figure of merit into an ammeter / voltmeter of desired range.

24. Verify Ohm’s law for a metallic conductor and find its resistance.

25. Find the resistance of given wire using meter bridge / P.O Box.

26. Verify the law of combination of resistances using Meter Bridge / P.O Box / Ohm’s law.

27. Compare the e.m.f.s of two given primary cells using potentiometer.

28. Study the variation of internal resistance of the given cell with external resistance using potentiometer.

29. Find the focal length the given concave mirror using distant object method / u – v method / u – v graph / 1/u – 1/v graph.

30. Find the focal length the given convex lens using plane mirror method / u – v method / u – v graph / 1/u – 1/v graph.

31. Find the focal length the given convex mirror using convex lens.

32. Find the focal length of the given concave lens using a convex lens of known focal length by in contact / out of contact method.

33. Find the focal length liquid lens using a convex lens and plane mirror.

34. Study the input characteristics of a common emitter transistor keeping output voltage at a constant value.

35. Study the output characteristics of a common emitter transistor keeping input current at a constant value.

36. Find the frequency of A.C using a sonometer.
